Tally erp, the accounting package
software supports carrying the data wherever you wish to. And, this is not only
restricted to a single computer but the company data can be carried from Branch
Office to Head Office to home using the Backup and Restore options available in
Company Info menu. Even one can access the company data remotely using the
Tall.Net facility, however, there is one condition, i.e. the internet
connection must available on both the sides. So this feature comes handy when
one has to access the company data through offline mode. This feature is also
very helpful to the auditors at the time of auditing the company accounts. The
auditors just simply take the Backup from the client’s computer and restore the
information in their computer and complete the auditing work.
Backing
up the Company Data
Backup is nothing but taking a softcopy
of the company data on removable storage devices such as Flash Drive (Pen
Drive) or Compact Disk (CD). When one takes a backup of a company or group of
companies, a file named ;TBK 900.001; (where ;TBK900; is the primary name and
;.001; is the secondary name or extension name) will be created. Tally software
only understands this file format. In order to start the backup process:
·
Select; Backup; option
from; Company Info. Menu
·
You will notice; Backup
Companies on Disk; screen
·

group of Companies for backing up particular company or companies or select;
All items; for backing up all the companies from the; List of Companies. At the
end select; End of list; to complete the selection of companies
·
Lastly accept the
screen
The moment you accept the Backup
Companies on Disk screen Tally will illustrate the Progress Bar and the moment
the progress bar finishes TBK900.001 file will be created in the destination
path. One just needs to open the Disk Drive location where you have taken the
backup. There you can notice the Backup file named; TBK900.001. This is the single
file possessing all the information about your Books of Accounts concerning to
the selected firms.
